Alive & Kicking make cheap, tough, repairable footballs, netballs and volleyballs using African skills and African leather. Each carries a message about HIV/AIDS and malaria.
Alive & Kicking is a charity. We need your help, please.
You can donate money or give a ball.
We coudn't provide the services required without the invaluable help of these organisations...
Children everywhere have the Right to Play games. In Africa that right is often unrealised.
African youngsters love football, but often the only ball they have ever played with is the one they make themselves from plastic bags and string. (See the picture to the left)
It's not much of a ball, but it's as good as it gets for poor children in Africa.
You can help by giving them a ball. Alive & Kicking balls are made by skilled African stitchers, using African leather and designed for harsh African conditions.
They last far longer than other balls, can be easily repaired and sell at prices poor schools and clubs can afford. (Find out more by clicking on the section to the right)
Alive & Kicking balls also carry warnings about HIV/AIDS and malaria. In Africa it is young people who are most at risk from these fatal but preventable diseases.
The warnings remind players about the dangers they face and enable teachers, coaches and other adults to use the ball as an entry point for health education.
If you donate a ball you not only give the poorest kids the chance to play - you will also put them in touch with vital, life-saving information and create jobs.
