Alive & Kicking make cheap, tough, repairable footballs, netballs and volleyballs using African skills and African leather. Each carries a message about HIV/AIDS and malaria.
Alive & Kicking is a charity. We need your help, please.
You can donate money or give a ball.
We coudn't provide the services required without the invaluable help of these organisations...
Alive & Kicking's first ball was produced in Kenya. Since November 2005 A&K Kenya has produced and distributed over 120,000 balls, provided jobs to over 100 stitichers, and spread life saving health messages to thousands. To find out more about our Kenyan operations please click here.
Alive & Kicking Zambia was launched in June 2007 in its capital city Lusaka. 50 local stitchers, paid a fair wage, stitch over 2,000 balls a month. Balls have been bought by Zambeef, Shoprite, Right to Play, Edusport, Sport in Action, The Ministry of Education, Spar Shops. To find out more about our Zambian site, please click here.
The Drakenstein Municipality in Wellington, South Africa became the location of Alive & Kicking's third production site in April 2008. It is a country of many paradoxes - South Africa has 50% of the country's purchasing power, yet soaring rates of unemployment, living conditions have improved dramatically, yet it has the worst HIV epidemic in the world and millions of children living in poverty. Alive & Kicking wants to kick AIDS out of Africa, decrease deaths from malaria and TB, provide sporting equipment for Africa's young to help them have healthy, fun, active lives, and provide sustainable jobs for adults. Our balls incapsulate these aims, and our partners help us to achieve them. To find out more, please click here.
Alive & Kicking also relies on support from individuals and organisations for endorsement and ball orders. Find out more about our supporters...
