Each carries a message about HIV/AIDS, malaria or TB. We employ over 150 Stitchers across three countries and have produced over 200,000 balls which have been donated to children across Africa. Concert in Memory of Jim CoganOn November 30th 2008 The Barbican will host an evening of choral music in memory of our founder Jim Cogan, and in support of Alive & Kicking and Jim's youngest charity the Good Earth Trust. The concert will be given by City of London Choir, The Boys' Choir of Westminster Under School, and The Royal Philharmonic Ochestra, and will be conducted by Hilary Davan Wetton. It will feature works by Finzi and Vaughan Williams. Alive & Kicking and the Good Earth Trust will be introduced at the concert by former England Cricket Captain Mike Brearley OBE. Roderick Bradley (Spartan from The Gladiators) is to feature on the Sky One quiz show Are You Smarter Than a 10 Year Old? ALIVE & KICKING BALLS HIT SHELVES IN NAKUMATT STORES IN KENYA! Our balls have now started retailing in Nakumatt - Kenya's largest supermarket chain. The launch took place on 16th July at Nakumatt Junction. Attendees included Harambee Stars' national football coach Francis Kimanzi; Kenyan football legend and A&K Kenya Trustee JJ Masiga; A&K Kenya HIV/AIDS Awareness Ambassador Issac Juma; and Auma Obama, Sports for Social Change Coordinator for East Africa.
Alive and Kicking is partnering with the Great Football Giveaway to donate 2,000 balls to children in poor communities in Zambia in October 2008. The project will be run by Rob Kinder, Sam Trusty and Jamie Whitcroft, in conjunction with the Great Football Giveaway and Alive and Kicking Zambia.
