Stitcher

Obadiah Onchiri (Paraphrased from his own hand written account)

I was born in 1984 in Korichu Tea estates where my parents worked as tea pluckers. I went to a technical institute where I graduated with a certificate in pharmaceutical technology and first started working for a hospital then later a pharmaceutical company.

After 2 years I joined Alive & Kicking Kenya because of maltreatment I was receiving from my former employers. I realised that Alive & Kicking provides what I need for my life. First it is a wonderful atmosphere and its health programmes against the spread of Africa's major life threatening diseases are important.

My dad was affected by the post election violence and has moved home. He has done enough in life not to have to work and I am the only source of income for the family. I have a sister in college and two brothers in school. All this I am overcoming with the aid of A & K.

My dream is for A&K workers to visit or be visited by leading African footballers who shine an African pride in Europe. My promise is to adhere to standards so as not to contract dangerous diseases by protecting myself and my wife Mary.
